Getting in Shape: Day 7

Day 7: Today... We Run!

It was a big day today. Today, I started the journey of actually running. I used running as a way to get in shape before and I actually liked it once I was able to run without feeling obliterated. I am doing the Couch 2 5k Program. This is a super approachable program that has been so successful for me so many times. Today I did Week 1, Day 1 . It consisted of the following:

  • 5 min warm up walk
  • run 60 sec
  • walk 90 sec
  • repeat X 8
  • 5 min cool down walk

The app I have been using is one called Watch to 5k. I really like it because  1) I don't have to have my phone. 2) It gives me a subtle haptic nudge to let me know when to run and when to walk. This keeps me from having to raise my wrist all the time and look at my watch.

I feel pretty good about this run today. It was (shocker) hot, but I am super proud I did it. I'm thinking tomorrow I might actually start in incorporate some other exercise.
